Here’s the latest release of Roman Polanski’s adaptation of Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award winning play. The French film poster. And it looks wunderbar!
Christoph Waltz, John C. Reilly, Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet play the roles that earned major attention to Jeff Daniels, James Gandolfini, Hope Davis and Marcia Gay Harden. Harden won a Tony for her performance and the other cast members earned nominations.
Originating from the debut production in Paris with Le Dieu du Carnage, the film will premiere at this year’s 68th Venice Film Festival. George Clooney’s The Ideas of March will open the festival, with David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method, Todd Solondz’s Dark Horse, Al Pacino’s Wild Salome and Madonna’s W.E. also screening. I would kill to be at this festival. And if I were to kill, I had better do it soon. The festival beings August 31 and runs through to September 10.
Looks like this will be a serious Oscar contender to watch out for!
Carnage also plays at this year’s New York Film Festival, later being released in November in the US. No word on an Australian release just yet.
