TV Reviews: Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Episode 11

Those pesky writers tricked us all! Here we were thinking they abandoned the best sub plot ever but they have pulled the wool over our eyes and then smacked us with the sheep from whence the wool came.Tonight’s delicious offering of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries is ‘Blood and Circuses’ and stars John Wood as the ringmaster and Aaron Jeffery as a delectable strong man type as the circus comes to town.  The only problem is the half-man-half-woman gets poisoned, stabbed and bitten by a snake, right on the neck, for good measure and left out in a magic box for the audience to gasp at.

Phryne (Essie Davis) puts on her best ‘aussie battler’ accent which sounds like she stepped on a kiwi and joins the circus to find out what’s going on in the big top. Meanwhile, the hottie Detective Jack (Nathan Page) has finally taken off one complete layer of clothes. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, no overcoat and no wide brimmed abomination. I got all melty hoping he’d rip his suit off in a wild fit of circus orientated freak show passion but alas. Not yet. We shall have to pine for a moment longer. Sigh.

Poor cutie Collins (Hugo Johnstone-Burt) accidentally shoots himself in the leg trying to stop escaping criminals and ends up red-faced as super cutie Dot (Ashleigh Cummings) stands up for her man.

In the final moments we learn some more about Murdoch (Nicholas Bell) that will literally scare your pants off and although that’s convenient for your partner it’s embarrassing for you. You’ve been warned. Wear a belt and buckle up!

Is he alive? Is he dead? Why is he in my dreams freaking me the hell out? Who cares how Phryne got rich and cheeky anymore?

This Murdoch storyline is going to be pure gold as it unfolds and hopefully way less creepy. I’d like to sleep without the light on please.

Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries is an Every Cloud Production and airs Fridays at 8.30pm on ABC1. Click here to read more episode reviews in the series

  • Oh, OK! Taking off one layer is good, but only 2 more eps left and we need more! I hope there are going to be some nice Phryne/Jack moments! Please! Murdoch Foyle – well, will wait and see what he comes up with! Thank you for your positive review!
