The story was moving a bit quicker this week in the second last episode of The Doctor Blake Mysteries titled ‘All That Glitters’. It was wonderful to see a very drunk Lucien (Craig McLachlan) tell the whole town what he thought of the visiting British Consul. There seemed to be a bit of the delicious and cheeky Craig seep through that performance. I liked it!
After finding a body down a gold mine our dear old Lucien struggles with small spaces which doesn’t help him later on after he punches Lawson (Joel Toebeck), who has had it coming for weeks, and gets locked up in a cell overnight to sober up.
Lawson is a bit of an odd character. Always cranky and ‘proper’. A face like plasticine that holds firm during all wind changes and tells us exactly what mood he’s in. I was hoping a good punch to his skull may cause his eyebrows to be drop and for him to be a tad be less angry.
It took me several minutes to realize the RACV’s commercial star ‘Jason’ was acting in this episode. He was pretty good too. I was expecting him to say he wanted to be ‘employee of the century’ and the Blake cast to simultaneously say ‘No you’re not!’. It certainly was a night for ad superstars with the mum from the old All Bran ad making an appearance too.
Meanwhile, distractions aside, I think that Danny (Rick Donald) Is FINALLY considering making a move on Mattie (Cate Wolfe) and I liked the two of them dancing sweetly in the lounge room together and even if Mattie is way to feisty for her own good we all hope they end up together….eventually….before we die would be nice.
Meanwhile Lucien looked super-hot having a cigarette too. Naughty boy! After discovering an affair, a false identity and solving the case of not only the murder but a robbery as well our Lucien has yet again saved the day. Jean (Nadine Garner) is less impressed and is perhaps beginning to get a bit miffed with the dear old doctor due to his selfishness and carefree ways of living. It’s just because she is secretly in love with him and wants a piece of the Lucien pie. Who doesn’t?
With one episode to go, which looks like a good one too, I wonder if everyone can fall in love, act on it and eventually we can see Craig Mclachlan without a shirt on. Crossing my fingers.
