Episode two of our delightful Miss Fisher (Essie Davis) began with a spooky séance which lead into that boppy intro music that had Betty the cat and I toe tapping in our lounge room. Last night’s episode had it all: grave robbery, poisoning, war stories, crow bar beatings at the cemetery, psychics and Jacks (Nathan Page) wide brimmed hat (an abomination) is back with a vengeance.
There seems to be a lot of blatant flirting going on between our beloved Miss Fisher and Det. Jack and I like it! Now that the old dowdy ex-wifey is out of the way Jack can move forward and get his gear off good and proper!
The storyline from last night was less predictable than the first episode and there certainly seemed to be a lot going on with three deaths and three different killers working to confuse even the best crime buff. Naturally, Miss Fisher looked beautifully radiant as she solved one mystery after another. Making another guest appearance was Miriam Margolyes as the uppity Aunt Prudence, always on the side of proper-ness and decency. She is a wonderful addition to a stellar cast. I had been hoping that Bert (Travis McMahon) might get a bigger role in this series as it seems like such a waste of talent to have such a wonderful Australian actor on the sidelines but it seems that he remains out of the ‘official awesomeness loop’.
A pattern is emerging with both of these new episodes, ending with sexy hot Det. Jack and Miss Fisher enjoying a drink in her lounge after the case is solved. Jack seems much more relaxed and willing to be won over by Miss Fisher in this new series and if he already seems willing in episode two, let’s hope he takes off that three piece suit by mid-season!
Where will our wonderful writers lead us in this new sexy and ultra-snazzy season of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries.? Hopefully down a garden path with Det. Jack by our sides….
