Elvis: All The King’s Men
This series of films from Jimi Petulla Pictures gives fans of the singer a unique glance of his secret life. The films take us from Elvis’s birth in Mississippi right up to his death at Graceland. The documentary-style films also show some insightful interviews with those who were close to Elvis. There are plenty of anecdotes that fans will love to hear, covering his military tour of Germany and also of his various tours of The States.
Steve Jobs
Everyone knows about the genius behind Apple. But do you know what drove him to his great success? The biopic based on the man behind Apple, Steve Jobs, aims to find this out. Starring Michael Fassbender as the titular character, Seth Rogan also plays right-hand man Steve Wozniak. The film takes us behind the scenes of the first launch of the Macintosh. Kate Winslet also plays a fantastic role as Apple’s marketing wunderkind Joanna Hoffman.
Walk The Line
Walk the Line looks back at Johnny Cash’s life and turbulent relationship with fellow country singer June Carter. The film came out in 2005 to rave reviews. Joaquin Phoenix stars as the brooding singer and Reece Witherspoon took on the challenge of playing Carter. The movie covers lots of turning points in Cash’s personal life, including his first marriage and troubles with drugs and alcohol.
Gandhi
One of the most epic biopics to date, Gandhi looks back at the life of Mahatma Gandhi, a religious pacifist from India. Ben Kingsley stars in the lead role, and his depiction of Gandhi was widely praised. He went on to win an Oscar for his part in the film. The film begins on the day of Gandhi’s assassination. It then looks back at his eventful life and the part he played in Indian non-violent campaigns.
Behind The Candelabra
Michael Douglas plays the legendary pianist Liberace in this biopic of his life. It focuses on his relationship with Scott Thorson, who is played by Matt Damon in the movie. The story looks at how the two men met and what they went through in their relationship. The couple’s troubles with drugs are placed in the spotlight, as well as their excessive use of plastic surgery.
I Saw The Light
Johnny Cash isn’t the only country singer whose life has been turned into a Hollywood movie. In I Saw the Light, Tom Hiddleston plays Hank Williams while Elizabeth takes on the role of his wife, Audrey Williams. The couple’s turbulent relationship takes centre stage in the film. And Hiddleston’s singing abilities are also given plenty of chance to shine.
