Weekend Box Office: 1-3 September

Lionsgate’s action movie The Hitman’s Bodyguard maintains the top spot for the third time in a row with three weeks at the box office. The $30 million movie, generated an estimated weekend gross of $10.2 million dollars this past weekend. Domestically, the total gross moved up to $55 million.

Meanwhile, Annabelle: Creation is a non-mover on number 2 spot with four weeks on the weekend box office. Nonetheless, it dropped its weekend gross by 2.4% to $7.5 million from last week’s amount bringing the total gross amount up to $89 million. The R-rated movie is doing financially well worldwide by earning $253 million in 4 weeks.

Wind River has not been doing well in the previous weeks. But this previous weekend it climbed one place in the positive to occupy number 3 from number 4 last week. The World War II inspired movie Dunkirk increased its weekend earnings by 10.6 % to $4.1 million but maintained the sixth spot. Dunkirk reached $458 million worldwide seven weeks after its release. Despite making a total domestic gross income of $324 million in nine weeks, Spider-Man: Homecoming remained at number 7 for four consecutive weeks.

Universal’s Despicable Me 3 climbed five places up to number 8 from number 13 with $2.4 million and The Emoji Movie took the number 9 spot. Girls Trip concluded the top ten of weekend box office with $2.3 million in its 7th week.
