Another early morning rise saw Oscar hopefuls Andy Serkis and Tiffany Haddish announce the nominees for the 90th Annual Academy Awards.

- Greta Gerwig becomes only the fifth woman to be nominated for Best Director
- Rachel Morrison becomes the first woman nominated in the Cinematography category for Mudbound
- Notable snubs this year included James Franco and Holly Hunter, as well as other surprise omissions
- Surprise nominations for Lesley Manville, Daniel Day Lewis and the other Phantom Thread nominees.
