Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries heats up tonight with Detective Jack (Nathan Page) and Miss Fisher (Essie Davis) finally showing us a minimal taste of love. Jack even makes an appropriate try at a joke! A joke! Oh Jack, we never saw that coming!
As usual, towards the end, they sit down for a drink to discuss the case she has outsmarted him on, again. This time I sensed a hint of sultry man powered hotness in Jack’s eyes towards Miss Fisher but then again, it could have been hay fever. However, he does reveal he is separated from his wife. Opening for a hot sex scene? I think so!
This week’s episode ‘Raisons and Almonds’ looks at a Jewish family murder and involves science, religion, Zionists and secret affairs. Miss Fisher even gets shot at, naturally, she replies by throwing a knife from her britches hitting the assailant slap-bang in the shoulder which later helps prove the killer’s identity. With a special guest performance as a cold, hard nosed book shop owner is the cute-as-a-button Kat Stewart who makes the role her own.
The romance between Collins (Hugo Johnstone-Burt) and the naïve Dot (Ashleigh Cummings) seems to have been forgotten as has the mystery of Miss Fisher’s murdered sister which is one of the best subplots on the show. Jane the orphan (Ruby Rees-Wemyss) was also missed tonight because she is wide eyed, bushy tailed and just plain cheeky.
Burt (Travis Macmahon) and Cec (Anthony Sharpe) provide humor. They tiff over Cec moving to Echuca as Burt struggles with losing his best mate in a cute bromance kind of way.
Almost half way through this series, we want more backstory and more explanations about Miss Fisher and her past. Hopefully Jack can overcome his faithfulness to his distant wife and start wearing less clothes more often. It’s clearly an essential part of the ensuing love story.
