The time is fast approaching. July is half way gone, and Thursday sees the opening night film premiere of The Fairy at this years 60th Melbourne International Film Festival.
A challenge has been set for some local film reviewers to watch 60 over the 17 days of the festival.
Now, since I have a part time job, live out in the sticks, and will resume my full time Masters study load next week, I cannot meet such a desirable challenge.
However, I can set a challenge for myself. While I do not have the time to see, let alone review 60 films, I can attempt to give quick reviews of everything I do indeed view. So, that in essence, is my challenge. To give a quick review of all that I see at MIFF, in a similar vein as my most recent thoughts of Sleeping Beauty.
So far, the lucky candidates that I will be viewing are:
- Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Elliot Spitzer
- The Hollywood Complex
- Page One: Inside the New York Times
- The Slap
- Tiny Furniture
- The Future
- Submarine
I also have a chance to see the opening night film The Fairy and the closing night film Drive. Numerous other opportunities may aptly present themselves, having been volunteering with the festival for the last month.
So the challenge is set. Let’s just hope I can actually do it!
