She’s baaaaaack!!!! Here is the first installment all of us Fishy fans have been busting our chops to see! Even Betty the cat has been getting a little cranky in anticipation!
Our time without delicious Det. Jack (Nathan Page) has made us crazy with lust for his wide brimmed abomination and three piece suit. Yes, he also appeared in Ch 9’s Squizzy with a merv-esque moustache and a grey bowler hat. But that was then and this is now. Jack’s back and sexy as ever before. Thankfully, minus the facial hair. Only Craig McLachlan can pull off that kind of neat beard sexiness.
And so, back to naïve Dotty (Ashleigh Cummings) and nervous Constable Collins (Hugo Johnstone-Burt) who spent his break in Summer Bay playing a psycho stalker who liked to beat-up people and get stabby all the while she’s been a tad skanky on Ten’s Puberty Blues! I couldn’t even watch her, I felt Dot would feel betrayed.
A surprising addition is Rosie, the (thankfully), ex-wifey of our beloved Jack. Now, a newly single man he can finally get it on with Miss Fisher (Essie Davis) without guilt.
Messing things up a bit is the storyline of last night’s episode, with Jack having to arrest his former father in law, the Deputy Chief Commissioner, for murdering a lady of the night (Gasp!). Further gasping continued as we were introduced to Dot’s sister ‘Lola’ who is certainly not keeping the strict bible fashion in the family. Naughty!
It was also lovely to see Miss Fisher’s pink feather dance at the ‘Imperial Gentlemen’s Establishment’ where she bared the top half to an ever blushing Det. Jack and a dumbfounded Hugh! Good work!
Luckily, in the end Jack’s former father in law was cleared of the murder, only after Miss Fisher donned a black pantsuit and scaled the walls of a building like Batman in order to find the truth! Ending the episode with Jack and Miss Fisher having a casual drink leads us to hoping that one thing may lead to another. It was a celebration of singledom and hopefully a new start for our beloved Miss Fisher and sexy Det. Jack. Now, he just needs to take his shirt off and we will be back in business.
Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries is an Every Cloud Production and airs Fridays at 8.30pm on ABC1. Click here to read more episode reviews in the series.
