About Us
Film
Both painfully dull and imaginatively impressive sequences of images captured onto material which then becomes projected as illusory continuous movement.
Blerg
An exasperated attempt to vent frustration, annoyance, disgust and/or anger, popularised by our patron saint Liz Lemon from 30 Rock.
FILM BLERG
A movement dedicated to providing simple, substantial and accessible reviews, while focusing on cinema that is classic and contemporary, national and international, and mainstream and independent. Film Blerg also doubles as a motivational writing tool to its slovenly “Gen-Y” editor, whose dreams of cinematic grandeur continue to invade his everyday realities.
James Madden (Founder and Editor) completed his Bachelor of Arts at La Trobe University, majoring in Cinema and Media Studies. He is currently undertaking a Masters of Arts and Cultural Management at Melbourne University. His reviews and articles have been featured in Farrago (University of Melbourne), Rabelais (La Trobe University), Tharunka (University of New South Wales), The Vine, Portable, X and Y magazine, T-Squat and Upstart.
